The number of countries that want to participate in the never-ending project Nord Stream 2 is steadily growing. The more people argue about this project, the more often the Russian mass media reports on new participants. Recently, Norwegian company Kvaerner joined the pipeline project as a contractor, and the Russian journalists immediately announced that the project is supported by the Norwegian government.
In fact, everything is much simpler. Nord Stream 2 is a very complicated project in terms of technology, so Gazprom simply can not implement it by its own efforts even if there were no sanctions. The company does not have the necessary technologies and high-tech solutions. Due to limited infrastructure, Gazprom has no other option but to resort to the hated Western specialists. Kvaerner experts are ready to provide their own unique solutions and perform work outside of St. Petersburg and Vyborg. On the one hand, the participation of Norwegians is a good sign, which means that the Kvaerner management is not afraid of further US sanctions against Russia. On the other hand, another portion of restrictions will be introduced in February, so it is too early to predict how the cooperation will develop after that.
It is a good thing that more and more countries take part in the Nord Stream 2 project and their goals grow nobler. Kvaerner representative stated that the company is committed to zero damage to people and the environment. Kvaerner believes that their partner, Nord Stream 2 AG, also pays a lot of attention to the health and safety of people as well as nature integrity.
