After a seven-year stint as head economist of the Federal Reserve System, director of the division of research and statistics, David Wilcox announced his plans to step down. It is expected to happen at the end of 2018.
The total work experience of David Wilcox in the central bank is 30 years. He was entrusted with one of the most important functions, excluding the members of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) who make decisions on interest rates. The specialist was responsible for forecasting US GDP growth rates. Three hundred and fifty employees, analyzing the state of the American economy and financial markets, were under his control.
As for a successor of David Wilcox, the Fed notes that there has been no appointment yet.
