The whole world is united in the battle against the coronavirus. Countries like India which are not able to curb the spread of COVID-19 will receive financial aid from the World Bank. The international loaner will provide India with $1 billion emergency funding to support the healthcare sector. According to the announcement from the bank, this is going to be the largest financial aid ever given to India. The project is aimed particularly at improving the quality of the coronavirus screening and rendering assistance for pharmaceutical laboratories and medical personnel. Apart from that, people infected with the coronavirus and those at risk will get payments from the loaner. The bank hopes that the funding will allow the Indian government to slow down and limit the spread of COVID-19. Currently, the World Bank is considering applications from over 40 nations and has already approved a set of financial projects amounting to $1.9 billion for 25 of them. Overall, the bank is ready to allocate $160 billion to help countries tackle the coronavirus pandemic and its aftermath.
