Recently, a new $100 bill has been rolled out in another effort to outwit counterfeiters. The novelty is said to be more difficult for forgers to reproduce. The U.S. Mint introduced a redesigned $10 dollar banknote to the world. According to official data, the bill will make its way into general circulation on Tuesday, but all the features and peculiarities are already known. The new banknote is truly revolutionary. First of all, they spent 10 years to develop new measures to deter counterfeiters. Secondly, the banknote will appear in new coloring: the common green was replaced by blue, grey and orange colors. Apart from this, the 3-dimensional security ribbon woven into the paper changes color when tilted. In addition, the inkwell will change its color and transform into the Liberty Bell when turned. Michael Lambert, director at the Federal Reserve, says that the new bill gives consumer a better ability to quickly spot fake bills. The $100 dollar debut was scheduled for 2011, however, the Fed’s representatives postponed it citing technical problems. The old banknote will remain a legal tender, though. Interestingly enough, the $100 bill is the second most frequently counterfeited denomination of the U.S. currency leaving the $20 dollar bill behind.
