In an attempt to stop heated political debates at work, Goodyear, a major US manufacturer of tires, announced a ban on political attire. The company asked its employees to refrain from wearing ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) campaign merchandise when working, thus angering US President Donald Trump.
"Don't buy Goodyear tires - they announced a ban on MAGA hats. Get better tires for far less!” Trump tweeted.
The Republican president, who is seeking a second term in office, told reporters he would swap out the Goodyear tires on his presidential limousine if there were an alternative.
"To be clear on our longstanding corporate policy, Goodyear has zero tolerance for any form of harassment or discrimination," the company said in a statement.
Trump has long embraced the act of boycotting major companies that he feels have disrespected him.
In early 2016, Trump called for a boycott of Apple products until the tech giant agreed to US government demands.
