Breaking new records, Russia takes the first position once again. Currently, amid the lack of good news from Russia, the latest data is yet another reason for honor. The Energy Ministry of the Russian Federation disclosed a report on the volumes of extracted oil. Complying with the statistics, the nation’s output of hydrocarbons hit a new post-Soviet record. The Russian companies led the oil output increase to 10.58 million barrels per day as of October 2013, reaching the landmark. Recently, Russia is the world’s largest oil producer hoping to maintain this position for a long time. Counted in tones, Russia’s total output reached 44.7 tons per day. Moreover, natural gas production also ramped up 14% or 2.02 billion cubic meters a day in October. Consequently, rising output contributed to the higher capitalization of the Russian oil companies. For the last three month the Gazprom, Rosneft, and Lukoil shares showed upwards dynamics. For example, their depositary receipts are actively sold on the London exchange. However, the securities show mostly negative dynamics: Gazprom and Rosneft lost 0.5% each, whereas Lukoil is trading flat.
