The Russians are able to depict the symbol for the national currency. The most popular currencies have graphical symbols. The Russian ruble has not got its own currency sign. The Central Bank of the Russian Federation gave a chance to every country’s resident to take part in the process of creation and adoption of a ruble symbol. On the bank’s official website, an open discussion of different variants and designs of a symbol was launched. Anyone can fill in voter registration form stating sex, age, and education. Moreover, in the separate menu window, one can give detailed comments and explanations. The central bank representatives said that a special commission had examined about 1,000 projects and drafts. Anyone could take part in the development: individuals, creative teams, and organizations. To take the final decision, five samples were selected. Thus, anyone could vote for them on the website. It should be noted that the question about the Russia’s national currency symbol has been under consideration since 2007. In 2010, the Central Bank started to solve the problem, the specialists promised to create a draft by 2011. However, that time it was with no result and the ruble did not acquire its symbol. Unofficially, many financial institutions, including the ones abroad, use the symbol developed by famous Russian designer Artemy Lebedev. All the major currencies, such as the US dollar, euro, British pound, and the yen have their own symbols.
