Agence France-Presse reports French farmers are protesting against the regulating measures in agriculture. Two unions are preparing to bring two arterial roads to Paris to a standstill on November 21, Thursday. The FDSEA and JA farmers unions announced a blockade to “make the voice of the agriculture sector, which has been sacrificed, heard.” In particular, the farmers are against the taxes hikes and tighter control over environmental measure. According to Le Figaro, the farmers are ready to lift the blockade should their requirement are satisfied. Earlier the French government together with President Francoise Holland have already been forced to suspend a new environmental tax applied to trucks carrying cargo more than 3.5 tonnes. The draft was accompanied with protest moods in Brittany, a predominantly agricultural region in northern France. Farmers say that the “ecotax” is unjustified burden for the locals who are heavily dependent on the motor transportation and they demand abolishing it.
