Many companies face the problems with tax payments; in the majority of cases the size does not play any role. Neither small-scale entrepreneurs, nor international corporations like to pay levies. The US tech giant Apple is under investigation in Italy for allegedly hiding more than 1 billion euros from the local tax authority. The representatives of the regulator find out the details of the fraud. At the moment, the law-enforcement agency refuses to give commentaries and the details are not provided amid fears of further pressure on the investigators. It is known that Apple failed to declare to Italian tax authorities 206 million euros in 2010 and 853 million euros in 2011. This is not the first time Apple is accused of evading tax; the problems occurred in the U.S., several senators suspected that the giant withdrew several billions of dollars abroad by means of affiliate companies. Recently the investigation has been conducted in Ireland, as using the loophole, the company managed to “save” about $40 billion in unpaid taxes. It should be noted that this year Italian Inland Revenue, the Italian taxing authority, started to struggle with tax evaders. This summer, fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were handed a 20-month suspended prison sentence; moreover they were fined 400 million euros for tax evasion.
