Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk have proved themselves as experienced headhunters. Amazon "robbed" Boeing of 1,100 employees and at least 200 people continued their careers at SpaceX. In the hunt for valuable staff, they have no equal.
According to career-oriented social network LinkedIn, Amazon is hiring Boeing employees with extensive experience regardless of the position. For example, Walt Odishaw, the former vice president and general program manager of the 737 MAX, left Boeing in March and took over as vice president of one of Amazon’s businesses a few weeks later. Former Boeing CEO David Carbon led the unmanned aerial vehicle program. Boeing 777 Chief Engineer Bob Whittington, who has worked for the company for 33 years, has been vice president of Prime Air’s drone delivery. In the past two years, at least 32 Boeing engineers have joined Prime Air. Sometimes, it seems that Bezos plans to gather the old team at the new location.
Occasionally, the world's largest aerospace company succeeds in poaching employees albeit it happens rather rarely. For instance, in 2020, Jinna Hossein, a former programmer of Apple and SpaceX, came into the position of vice president of software development.
