Swatch filed a claim against the U.S. retailer Target for selling watches that copy its own, Reuters reports.
The lawsuit was made public on March 10 in district court in Manhattan. Swatch accused Target of selling watches identical to Zebra Watch and Multi-Color Watch line.
The Swiss company says that the quality of Target’s watches was inferior to its own production. Thus, that may harm the company’s reputation.
The company also added that it has warned Target beforehand, but the U.S. company continued to sell the alleged copies. Swatch plans to suspend the sales and seek for damages.
Swatch is the largest watch producer in the world. It is headquartered in Biel. Such well-known brands as Breguet, Omega, Longines, and Harry Winston belong to Swatch. Target is an American retailing company.
