The US education system has always been at the cutting edge of modern trends. Today, it is proving this statement again. The US government is considering teaching blockchain technology and introducing lessons on cryptocurrency. Schoolkids are happy but investors fear the school projects rushing the market. New York City mayor Eric Adams personally promoted the idea. The mayor assured that schools should add lessons on cryptocurrency and blockchain. Eric Adams said that schools should include cryptocurrency lessons into their curriculums because this technology is a “new way of thinking.” The mayor admitted that he could not explain bitcoin in 30 seconds and even experts find this task challenging. This is among the reasons why the new subjects have to be added to curriculums. However, Adams did not specify whether he meant elementary, high school, or tertiary-level education.
Notably, Fed’s chair Jerome Powell said that the US had no plans to ban cryptocurrencies but clarified that stablecoins (cryptocurrencies whose price is pegged to fiat money or exchange-traded commodities) need more regulation. The country is consistently tightening cryptocurrency regulations.
