Twitter’s new CEO Parag Agrawal has started a major reorganization of the company following the departure of Jack Dorsey, the Washington Post reports.
Dorsey left Twitter to focus on cryptocurrencies and charity, according to a report by the New York Times.
Parag Agrawal, who was Twitter’s chief technology officer under Dorsey, took over the position of CEO on Monday. “We’ve all discussed the critical need for more operational rigor and it must start from the top,” Agrawal wrote in a company-wide email obtained by the Washington Post. The new CEO has begun reshuffling the social media company’s leadership structure. As a result, engineering lead Michael Montano and head of design and research Dantley Davis would leave Twitter in 2022.
Twitter’s internal structure would also be revamped, with teams now being organized by what they’re working on instead of their job function.
The reshuffle is necessary to streamline Twitter’s operations and accelerate its growth, Agrawal explained.
