Though ex-US president Donald Trump was targeted for teaming up with the Kremlin’s intelligence agencies, he is memorable for his consistently tough policy towards Russia. Moreover, even after leaving office, he still roasts those who are in collaboration with Moscow.
Trump’s administration used to slap a heavy package of sanctions against Russian officials and state-run companies, including the sanctions bill from hell. Oftentimes, Donald Trump accuses Germany of purchasing natural gas from the dodgy regime, so that the Kremlin is funded to flex its muscles and sting neighboring countries. The next target of Donald Trump is his successor Joe Biden. Under the current market conditions, Biden’s administration made a forced decision to buy crude oil from Russia. An emotive response from Trump followed shortly after. He is indignant that the US has to appeal to OPEC amid elevated energy prices. The ex-president is frustrated at the White House having to deal with Moscow about oil deliveries to supply the US Eastern coast. He added that Russia is to blame for inflating energy prices. Donald Trump underscores the energy independence of the US during his presidency. With his energy policy, the country needed no energy from outside. The US produced enough energy to satisfy its needs and it was cheap, he lamented.
Earlier, White House spokesperson Jen Psaki stated that Washington welcomed the decision of OPEC and allied oil-producing countries to stick to the previous oil output at 400,000 barrels per day in January. Besides, she noted that Joe Biden was ready to take action to push global energy prices down. Nevertheless, the White House was not going to revise its plans for releasing extra 50 million barrels of crude from the US strategic reserves, she said.
