Visa has unveiled its NFT program for artists, musicians, fashion designers, and filmmakers.
The one-year Visa Creator Program is aimed at creative entrepreneurs who want to master the use of cryptocurrencies and NFT payments. Furthermore, it would allow creators to make payments in both regular currencies and crypto.
“NFTs have the potential to become a powerful accelerator for the creator economy,” Cuy Sheffield, Visa’s head of digital assets, said. The fast-growing creative industry is now valued at $100 billion.
The goal of Visa’s program is to provide mentorship to artists seeking to expand into the crypto field. In addition, the company will provide them with a one-time stipend.
“Through the Visa Creator Program, we want to help this new breed of small and micro businesses tap into new mediums for digital commerce,” Sheffield added.
In August 2021, Visa bought its first NFT, CryptoPunk 7610, for $150,000. According to the company’s head of digital assets, the company acquired the token to help Visa’s clients navigate the sphere of crypto commerce.
