The unemployment rate in the UK saw a decrease in the final quarter, according to data provided by the Office for National Statistics on Tuesday.
The International Labour Organisation's unemployment rate dropped to 3.8 percent in the last quarter, a decrease from 3.9 percent in the prior period. The current rate also undershot economists' prediction of 4.0 percent. From October to December, the average earnings, inclusive of bonuses, saw a yearly increase of 5.8 percent, a slower increase compared to November's 6.7 percent. The growth in earnings was expected to decelerate more dramatically to 5.6 percent.
When ignoring bonuses, the average earnings saw an annual increase of 6.2 percent after a previous rise of 6.7 percent. The anticipated increase was 6.0 percent.
The number of claimants saw a monthly increase of 14,100, reaching 1.579 million in January.
In the period from November to January, the estimated number of job vacancies fell by 26,000 in sequence, landing at 932,000. Concurrently, the number of payroll employees in January saw a monthly increase of 48,000, bringing the total to 30.4 million.
