According to a report from the French statistical office, INSEE, the country's unemployment rate remained steady in the fourth quarter after experiencing an increase in the previous two quarters. Slightly revised upward from 7.4 percent, the International Labor Organization (ILO) unemployment rate was consistent at 7.5 percent in the fourth quarter. This is 0.4 points higher than it was at the end of 2022, a time which marked the lowest level since 1982.
The report also revealed an increase in the number of unemployed individuals by 29,000 bringing the total to approximately 2.3 million in the last quarter of the year.
Nevertheless, for the 15-24 age group, the youth unemployment fell by 0.2 percent from the previous quarter, registering at 17.5 percent.
