Granite Construction Inc. (GVA) recently announced the initiation of the Atlantic Base Refurbishment project, valued at approximately $45 million, in Seattle, Washington. This initiative is set to upgrade and improve the facilities at King County Metro’s six-acre trolley bus parking and maintenance site.
The project is slated to start in January 2025, with an anticipated completion date in March 2027. It will involve comprehensive upgrades, including the replacement of all concrete paving and the enhancement of the underground infrastructure such as storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and industrial waste systems. Furthermore, the existing overhead catenary system will be modernized to accommodate King County Metro's burgeoning fleet of electric trolleys.
The refurbishment will be carried out in several phases to ensure that operations at the Atlantic base continue without disruption.
