CWA Members Ratify Agreements With AT&T

AT&T has finalized new agreements with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) for its workforce in the Southeast and West, covering approximately 23,000 employees across eleven states. This announcement, made on Friday, marks a significant development in the company's labor relations.

The contracts outline that AT&T workers in the West will see wage increments of at least 15% over the duration of a new four-year collective bargaining agreement. Meanwhile, employees in the Southeast are slated to receive over a 19% increase under a newly established five-year contract.

In particular, Wire Technicians and Utility Operations professionals in the Southeast—vital for the nationwide broadband expansion associated with President Biden's Infrastructure bill—will benefit from an additional 3% wage hike, the union confirmed.

These agreements have been approved by AT&T employees represented by the CWA. The Southeast contract with CWA District 3 encompasses roughly 15,000 personnel, primarily in roles such as technicians, customer service representatives, call center operators, and machine operators across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. This contract is due to expire on August 4, 2029.

On the other hand, the Western contract with CWA District 9 involves about 8,400 employees working in similar positions within California and Nevada, and it will remain in effect until April 8, 2028.
