Malta HICP Inflation Slows To 2.1%

Inflation as measured by the EU index in Malta showed signs of easing in November after an uptick the previous month, according to data from the National Statistics Office released on Wednesday.

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) reflected a 2.1% increase year-on-year in November, marking a decline from October's 2.4% rise.

In November, food and non-alcoholic beverages experienced a slower annual price growth of 3.4%, down from a 4.0% increase in October. The growth rate for prices related to housing and utilities also diminished, moving from 1.3% to 1.1%.

Conversely, transport charges maintained a steady growth rate of 4.3%, while communication costs saw a significant reduction of 4.5%.

On a month-to-month basis, the HICP decreased by 3.2% in November.
