Retail sales in Denmark saw a slight uptick following a stagnant period in the prior month, according to preliminary data released by Statistics Denmark on Monday.
In December, retail sales experienced a modest month-on-month growth of 0.1%, compared to the unchanged figures recorded in November.
The overall increase in December was primarily fueled by a 1.3% rise in the sales of various consumer goods. However, this was offset by a 4.1% decline in clothing sales and a 0.7% drop in food and other grocery sales.
On an annual comparison, the growth in retail sales decelerated to 1.5% from the previous 3.4% reported in November.
Overall, total retail sales in 2024 were 2.3% higher compared to the preceding year, as reported by the agency.
