In December, Mexico's unemployment rate fell to its lowest point in nine months, according to the latest data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) released on Wednesday.
Unadjusted figures indicate that the unemployment rate decreased to 2.4 percent, down from 2.6 percent the previous month, meaning there were 1.5 million people unemployed in December. This marks the lowest unemployment rate since March, when it stood at 2.3 percent.
In December of last year, the jobless rate was recorded at 2.6 percent. Meanwhile, the economic participation rate was at 59.3 percent, slightly down from 59.9 percent in December 2023.
When adjusted for seasonal variations, the unemployment rate edged down to 2.6 percent from 2.7 percent in the preceding month.
