In February 2025, Lebanon witnessed a reduction in its annual inflation rate, which fell to 15.6% from January's 16.1%, reaching its lowest point since last November. Notably, the price increase for food and non-alcoholic beverages was the smallest observed in five months, registering a 20.5% rise compared to 20.9% in January. Additionally, there was a deceleration in price gains for several categories: transportation costs increased by 8.9% compared to 10.2%, clothing and footwear prices rose by 14.4% compared to 14.6%, recreation and culture saw a 5.0% increase down from 7.2%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices climbed by 14.8% compared with 19.2%, and education costs were up by 30.8%, down from 31.3%. On the other hand, the costs associated with housing and utilities saw an uptick, increasing at a pace of 18.5%, up from the previous month's 17.2%. Additionally, there was a more significant decrease in the prices for furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance, which dropped by 8.2% compared to a 2.4% decline previously. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices in February rose by 0.7%, the slowest monthly increase in five months, following a 1.1% rise in January.
