In February 2025, Turkey's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 8.2%, a slight drop from 8.4% in January and a more significant decrease compared to the 8.7% recorded in the same month the previous year. This rate represents the lowest unemployment level since July 2012, driven by a reduction in the number of unemployed individuals, now numbering 2.886 million, which is a decrease of 95,000 people. However, the total number of people employed fell by 149,000, reaching a 13-month low of 32.314 million. Consequently, the employment rate dipped to 48.8% from January's 49.1%, marking the lowest level since November 2023. Breaking it down by gender, the employment rate stood at 66% for men and 31.9% for women. The labor force participation rate also experienced a decline, dropping to 53.2% from 53.6%, the lowest since November 2023. In contrast, the youth unemployment rate inched up to 15.0% from 14.9%, although it remains the lowest since July 2012.
