Swedish Household Lending Growth at Near 2-Year High

In February 2025, the annual growth rate of lending to Swedish households increased slightly to 1.9%, up from 1.8% in January, achieving its highest point since April 2023. Within this context, housing loans, which make up 83% of total household lending, experienced a year-on-year growth of 1.7%, up from 1.5% in the prior month. On the other hand, consumption loans, comprising 6% of total household lending, exhibited a robust annual growth rate of 6%, an increase from 5.4% in January. Regarding mortgages, the average interest rate for new agreements in February stood at 3.06%, with the average floating rate at 3.10%. Additionally, lending to non-financial corporations registered a modest annual growth of 0.1%, rebounding from a 0.5% decline in January 2025.
