In February 2025, retail sales in Ireland experienced a 0.7% increase compared to the previous month, which remained unchanged. Notably, there was substantial growth in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, medical and cosmetic articles, which surged by 10.5%, and department stores, which saw an 8.2% rise. Additional increases were recorded in various product categories: other products climbed by 2.2%, fuel by 2%, food, beverages, and tobacco by 1.1%, with non-specialized stores including supermarkets seeing a 0.5% increase, alongside electrical goods at 0.5%, and clothing, footwear, and textiles at 0.4%. However, declines were observed in several areas: motor vehicles decreased by 4.6%, hardware, paints, and glass by 3%, furniture and lighting by 0.7%, and bars by 0.4%. Compared to the same month of the previous year, retail sales in February enjoyed a 1.8% growth, picking up pace from a revised 0.5% increase recorded in January.
