The Swedish economy experienced a standstill in the first quarter of 2025, following a 0.8% growth in the previous quarter, as per preliminary data. This represents the weakest economic performance since the economy contracted in the final quarter of 2023. Mattias Kain Wyatt, an economist from Statistics Sweden, noted that economic activity improved during March, which managed to counteract the declines seen in January and February. On a year-over-year basis, the GDP increased by 1.1%, decelerating from a 2.4% rise in the prior quarter, marking the fastest growth rate since the third quarter of 2022.
