In March 2025, Turkey's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 7.9%, a slight decrease from 8.2% in February and significantly lower than the 8.6% reported in the same month the previous year. This figure represents the lowest unemployment rate recorded since the data series commenced in 2005, as the number of unemployed persons decreased by 65,000 to 2.807 million. Concurrently, employment saw an upswing, increasing by 391,000 to reach 32.597 million, which elevated the employment rate to a three-month high of 49.2%, up from 48.6% the month before. The employment rate for men was noted at 66.9%, while for women it was at 31.9%. Moreover, the labor force participation rate rose to 53.4% from 53.0%. However, the youth unemployment rate experienced a slight uptick, moving from 15.0% to 15.1%.
