In February 2025, Thailand experienced a significant boost in retail sales, with a remarkable 24.9% year-on-year increase, following a revised rise of 5.8% in January. This was the strongest growth observed since August 2024 and was predominantly fueled by a substantial rise in sales of other goods, which soared by 67.6%, compared to 7.9% in the previous month. Meanwhile, the growth rate for non-durable goods decelerated to 3.2% from 6.6%, for durable goods to 0.5% from 1.8%, and for department stores, supermarkets, and general stores to 19.6% from 25.2%. Additionally, there was a more pronounced decline in the sales of motor vehicles and automotive fuel, which fell by 3.2%, compared to a 1.5% drop in January. On a month-to-month basis, retail sales surged by 9.3% in February, sharply recovering from a revised 5.2% decline in January.
