Danish Manufacturing Output Drops in March

In March 2025, Denmark witnessed a 3.2% month-over-month decline in manufacturing production, overturning a previously adjusted 3.7% increase from February. The downturn spanned across most industrial sectors, with machinery experiencing the most significant decrease, plummeting by 13.6% compared to a 0.9% drop in the prior month. The production of transport equipment also saw a substantial decrease, falling by 6.6% in contrast to February's 2% increase. Output reductions were evident in pharmaceuticals (-3.8% from an 8% rise), textiles and leather products (-3.4% from -11.7%), and furniture along with other manufacturing categories (-2% from a growth of 1.7%). The chemicals and oil refineries sector experienced a 1.8% decline, following a 3.4% rise previously, while electrical equipment dropped by 1.7%, easing from a 3.7% decline. Additionally, the production of plastic, glass, and concrete fell by 0.5%, down from a 4.2% increase, and food, beverages, and tobacco decreased slightly by 0.3%, following a 1.6% decline. On a non-seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing output decreased by 2.6% in March, which represented an improvement from February’s revised 7.7% decline.
