In April 2025, Lithuania experienced a 4.0% year-on-year increase in retail sales, a significant rise from the revised 0.6% growth noted in March. This represents the most rapid growth in retail trade observed since the previous December. The primary driver for this upswing was a robust recovery in the sales of food, beverages, and tobacco, which surged by 6.3% after a 3.1% decline in March. In addition, growth in sales at non-specialized retail outlets accelerated to 37.7% from 34.7%, while sales growth for non-food products saw a slight moderation, with a 7.7% increase compared to 10.7% previously. Despite these gains, sales of automotive fuel continued to decline, albeit at a slower rate of 6.4%, compared to a 12.3% decrease noted in the prior month. On a month-to-month basis, retail sales experienced a 1.2% rise, following an upwardly revised increase of 1.3% in March.
