Japan's unemployment rate held steady at 2.5% in April 2025, maintaining the same level as the prior month and aligning with market forecasts. The number of individuals without employment rose by 30,000, reaching a nine-month high of 1.76 million, while those employed decreased by 40,000, bringing the total to a six-month low of 68.04 million. The overall labor force dipped by 20,000, reaching 69.79 million, and the number of people outside the labor force decreased by 80,000, totaling 39.86 million. The non-seasonally adjusted labor force participation rate climbed to 63.7% in April, marking a ten-month high compared to 63.1% in the same month the previous year. Additionally, the jobs-to-applicants ratio remained at 1.26 for a second consecutive month, aligning with expectations.
