Romania experienced an increase in its current account deficit, reaching EUR 3,230 million in April 2025, up from EUR 2,086 million in the same month the previous year. This represents the most significant current account gap since December 2024. Contributing factors include an expansion in the goods account deficit, which rose to EUR 2,209 million from EUR 1,549 million in April 2024. Additionally, the surplus in the services account decreased to EUR 1,055 million from EUR 1,139 million. The primary income deficit also saw an increase, climbing to EUR 1,346 million in April 2025 compared to EUR 1,029 million a year prior. Moreover, the secondary income account recorded a deficit of EUR 86 million, a reversal from a surplus of EUR 80 million.
