FX.co ★ Malta Unemployment Rate Falls to 2.7% in Q1

In the first quarter of 2025, Malta's unemployment rate decreased to 2.7%, a drop from the previously revised 3.3% during the same period last year. The number of unemployed individuals reduced by 1,755 on a year-on-year basis, totaling 9,054. Additionally, the figure for inactive persons fell by 2,509, reaching 160,886. Concurrently, the employment rate improved, rising to 80.4% from 78.4% in the first quarter of 2024, as the workforce grew by 13,646, reaching a total of 327,643 employed individuals. The activity rate for this quarter also increased to 82.7%, up from 81.2% the previous year, with the highest participation rate observed among those aged 25 to 54, which stood at 91.7%.
