Swedish Manufacturing PMI Hits 9-Month Low

Sweden's Swedbank Manufacturing PMI declined to 51.9 in June 2025 from 53.1 in May, registering its lowest level since September 2024 and indicating a continued deceleration in the industry's momentum. The downturn was largely attributed to a significant drop in order intake, which fell below the neutral mark of 50 to 49, down from 50.6 in May, signifying a contraction in demand. Meanwhile, production growth also decelerated, as reflected in the sub-index declining to 55.9 from 58.8. Employment growth slowed, with the index decreasing to 52.2 from 53.5. Additionally, delivery times shortened slightly (50.3 compared to 50.9), suggesting some relief in supply chain pressures. Inventory levels dropped (47.8 compared to 50.9), which may indicate weaker restocking efforts amidst ongoing economic uncertainties. Regarding pricing, input cost pressures remained low, as indicated by the suppliers’ raw material and input price index edging up slightly to 50.3 from 49.8, pointing to generally stable costs.
