The BSE Sensex remained relatively unchanged, hovering around 83,461 during early trading on Tuesday. This marks the second consecutive session of minimal movement as traders exhibited caution amid uncertainties surrounding US trade policies. Market observers are closely watching US-India trade discussions after President Trump announced new tariffs affecting several trading partners. Prudence was further observed in anticipation of consumer and producer price data releases from China, India’s primary trading partner, given the ongoing weak domestic demand in the mainland. Investors were also keenly awaiting the Federal Reserve's meeting minutes for insights into the central bank’s future monetary policy direction. Gains in the technology, financial services, and banking sectors helped to balance out declines seen in the automotive and healthcare sectors. Notably, Kotak Mahindra advanced by 3.5% and NTPC increased by 1.1%, whereas Titan dropped by 5.2% and HCL Tech declined by 1.0%.
