Private house approvals in Australia increased by 0.5% on a month-over-month basis, reaching an eight-month peak of 9,454 units in May 2025. This aligns with preliminary estimates and follows a notable 5.9% growth from April. This rise signifies the second consecutive month of growth in private house permits, fueled by increases in Victoria (up by 9.5%), South Australia (up by 1.6%), and Queensland (up by 0.7%). Conversely, there was a decline in approvals in Western Australia, down by 7.6%, and New South Wales, which saw a decrease of 5.4%.
