In May 2025, France saw a significant expansion of its current account deficit, reaching EUR 3.1 billion compared to EUR 1 billion in the same month the prior year. The primary income surplus showed a minor decline, decreasing slightly to EUR 2.79 billion from the previous year's EUR 2.81 billion. Conversely, the secondary income deficit grew from EUR 2.5 billion to EUR 3.1 billion. However, the goods account deficit shrank to EUR 65.2 billion from EUR 67.6 billion recorded in May 2024, while the services account surplus experienced a noteworthy increase, rising to EUR 60.3 billion from EUR 46 billion.
