In May 2025, Slovakia experienced a 2.2% year-on-year increase in construction output, marking a recovery from a 2.7% decline observed in April. This positive shift was primarily attributed to a resurgence in domestic production, which rose by 1.8%, contrasting with the previous month's decrease of 0.5%. The surge in new construction activity played a significant role, with a notable increase of 5.2%, a stark turnaround from April's 5.5% drop. There were also modest improvements in sectors such as repair and maintenance, which saw a smaller decline of 6.2% compared to 7.7%, building construction which fell by 2.1% following a 5.3% decrease, and engineering works, which marginally decreased by 0.2% as opposed to the previous 4.3% decline.
