In May 2025, Palestine experienced a widening of its trade deficit, which reached USD 455.9 million, an increase from USD 419.2 million in May of the previous year. This expansion was largely due to a 12% year-on-year rise in imports, totaling USD 610.8 million. Imports from Israel, comprising 54% of the total imports for the month, saw a modest 3% rise. Meanwhile, imports from other countries surged by 25%. On the export front, there was a significant 23% increase to USD 154.9 million, driven primarily by a 22% boost in sales to Israel, which represented 90% of all exports. Exports to destinations beyond Israel also grew by 32%. Cumulatively, from January to May, the trade deficit expanded to USD 2,322 million, up from USD 1,851.2 million in the same timeframe the previous year.
