In May 2025, retail sales in Mexico experienced a 2.7% increase compared to the previous year, bouncing back from a 2% downturn in April. The recovery was comprehensive, with gains recorded in eight out of nine retail sectors. Significant increases were observed in online and catalog sales, which surged by 9.6%, textiles and footwear, which saw an 8.8% rise, and personal goods, such as stationery and recreational items, which increased by 9.5%. Additionally, sales in healthcare products grew by 3.5%, while groceries and beverages saw a 4.9% uptick. Conversely, sales in hardware and glass experienced a 3.4% decline. In parallel, the total number of employed personnel in the retail sector rose by 0.7%, accompanied by a 5.6% growth in average wages. On a monthly scale, real income generated from the provision of goods and services increased by 1.8%.
