The number of job resignations in the United States remained largely unchanged at 3.208 million in July 2025, following a downward revision to 3.209 million in June, and marking a decrease from the 3.390 million reported in the same period last year. This figure represents the lowest since December 2024. The quits rate—which indicates the proportion of voluntary job departures relative to overall employment—remained at a steady 2.0% for the fourth consecutive month. Notably, voluntary resignations decreased within the construction sector by 80,000 and transportation, warehousing, and utilities decreased by 49,000, but saw an increase within professional and business services, rising by 197,000. On a regional basis, job resignations dropped in the Midwest by 97,000 and the Northeast by 28,000, increased in the South by 123,000, and remained unchanged in the West.
