In July 2025, Greece experienced a modest increase in its trade deficit, reaching EUR 2.9 billion compared to EUR 2.8 billion in the same month the previous year. This change was primarily due to a sharper decline in exports than imports. Exports dropped by 7.3% year-over-year to EUR 4.4 billion, largely impacted by a significant reduction in sales to non-EU countries, which plummeted by 16.8%. This decline overshadowed a slight increase in shipments to EU countries, which rose by 0.9%. Conversely, imports fell by 3.1% to EUR 7.3 billion, influenced by a reduction in purchases from non-EU countries by 10.0%, even as imports from the EU rose by 3.5%. For the first seven months of the year, Greece's trade deficit slightly contracted to EUR 19.5 billion from the previous year's EUR 19.6 billion during the same period.
