FDI into Vietnam Rises 8.8% in Jan-August

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam experienced a significant uptick, rising by 8.8% year-on-year to USD 15.4 billion from January to August 2025. This marks the highest level for this eight-month span in over five years. Furthermore, FDI commitments, which serve as indicators for upcoming disbursements, soared to USD 26.14 billion, a 27.3% increase compared to the same timeframe the previous year.

Additionally, during this period, Vietnam sanctioned 108 new overseas investment projects, with a combined registered capital amounting to USD 426.5 million—2.9 times the figure from the prior year. Moreover, 21 ongoing projects saw capital injections, enhancing their collective funds by an extra USD 129.7 million. Overall, when accounting for both newly registered investments and capital adjustments, Vietnam's overseas investment totalled USD 556.2 million, reflecting a remarkable 3.8-fold rise from the previous year.
