North Macedonia Retail Sales Rebound in August

Retail sales in Macedonia experienced a 1.1% increase year-on-year in August 2025, recovering from a 2.3% drop observed in the preceding month. This recovery was primarily propelled by enhanced automotive fuel sales, which rose by 4.8%, compared to a 2.2% increase in July. Additionally, there was a turnaround in the sales of food, beverages, and tobacco, which climbed by 3.8%, contrasting with a 0.4% decline previously reported. Although non-food product sales still saw a reduction, it was at a more moderate rate of 3.7%, compared to a 6.6% decrease the month before. When excluding fuel, the overall retail trade inched up by 0.2% in August, marking a recovery from the 3.4% decline reported in July.
