Spain Unemployment Surprisingly Falls in September

In September 2025, the number of individuals registering as unemployed in Spain decreased by 4,846 from the previous month, totaling 2.422 million, marking the lowest level since 2007. Economists had predicted an increase of 15,400 individuals. Joblessness fell across all sectors, with construction experiencing the most significant reduction (-4,670; -2.6%), followed by the services sector (-3,067; -0.2%), industry (-1,422; -0.8%), and agriculture (-1,166; -1.5%). Conversely, the category of those previously unemployed saw an increase of 5,479 (2.5%). Unemployment among the youth under 25 years rose by 16,085 (9.6%), totaling 183,716, yet this remains the lowest figure ever recorded for this demographic in September. Regionally, unemployment figures dropped in Catalonia (-5,293), Canarias (-4,842), and the Valencian Community (-2,739), but increased in Andalusia (7,116), Galicia (3,394), and the Principality of Asturias (1,219).
