In August 2025, Romania's current account showed a deficit of EUR 2,664 million, a slight improvement compared to the EUR 2,695 million deficit recorded in the same month the previous year. This positive shift was largely attributed to a reduction in the goods trade shortfall, which decreased to EUR 2,629 million from EUR 2,908 million in August 2024. Additionally, there was an expansion in the services surplus, reaching EUR 1,050 million from EUR 951 million. However, the primary income deficit saw an increase, rising to EUR 921 million from EUR 837 million, and the secondary income account reversed from a EUR 138 million surplus a year prior to a EUR 164 million deficit.
