In September 2025, consumer prices in Bahrain held steady compared to the same month the previous year, showing no annual change after a 0.8% decline in August. The deflationary trend moderated across various sectors, notably in food and non-alcoholic beverages, which fell by 0.6% as opposed to a sharper drop of 3.8% in August. Similarly, clothing and footwear saw a reduced decline of 3.8% from the previous 5.3%, housing and utilities decreased by 1.4% compared to 1.6%, and recreation and culture showed a marginally smaller fall of 0.9% from 1.3%. Transport prices were stable and unchanged.
In contrast, education experienced a faster price increase at 2.8%, compared to a notable 0.8% the previous month. Restaurants and hotels, as well as miscellaneous goods and services, also saw faster price growth, registering increases of 2.2% from 1.4%, and 4.2% from 2.2% respectively. Meanwhile, prices for furnishings, household equipment, and routine maintenance continued to decline by 1.9% compared to 1.0% previously, and there was a slight decrease in alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices at 0.5% from stability in the prior month. Inflation in the health sector slowed significantly to 0.2% from 5.3%, and communication saw a decrease to 0.5% from 2.6%.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.5% in September, building on a 0.2% rise observed in August.
