Chile GDP Growth Slows in Q3

In the third quarter of 2025, Chile's economy witnessed a year-on-year growth of 1.6%, a deceleration from the 3.3% recorded in the previous quarter and below the anticipated 1.9%. The trade sector showed an increase of 5.8% primarily driven by gains in wholesale sectors such as machinery, equipment, raw materials, food, beverages, and tobacco, coupled with robust retail and e-commerce sales. A notable rise of 4.2% was observed in business services, fueled by heightened demand for architectural and engineering services within the mining industry. The personal services sector grew by 3.4%, with health and education leading the way. The transportation sector expanded by 3.6%, while manufacturing reported a 1.7% increase, supported by advancements in food processing and metal products. Additionally, agriculture and livestock experienced a 4.7% uptick. The construction sector edged up by 0.8%, with engineering projects compensating for declines in building activities. Conversely, the mining sector contracted by 6.5% due to a decline in copper output, and utilities saw a 4.4% reduction as a result of decreased electricity generation.
