Brazil Jobless Rate Hits Record Low

In the three months leading up to October 2025, Brazil's unemployment rate declined to 5.4%, down from 5.6% in the preceding period. This marks the lowest level since the data series began in 2012 and slightly surpasses the anticipated rate of 5.5%. The number of unemployed individuals fell by 3.4%, reaching an all-time low of 5.9 million. Employment saw growth in the construction sector, with an increase of 2.6% or 192,000 jobs, and in the public administration sector, which rose by 1.3% or 252,000 jobs. Conversely, the 'other services' category experienced a 2.8% decline, losing 156,000 positions. The underutilization rate remained stable at a historical low of 13.9%, with 15.8 million individuals classified as underutilized, the lowest figure since late 2014. The rate of informality in the workforce stayed at 37.8%, involving 38.8 million workers. Additionally, average real earnings reached an unprecedented R$3,528.
